Upperville Colt and Horse Show
8 a.m. Monday-Sunday, June 4-10

First held in 1853, the Upperville Colt and Horse Show is believed to have been the first true horse show in the United States. What began as a pursuit to encourage better breeding and treatment of horses has grown into a week-long tradition in Virginia horse country, 40 miles west of Washington, D.C.

The week culminates in Sunday's $100,000 Upperville Jumper Classic. Other activities include pony rides, arts and crafts exhibits, games for kids, a variety of food choices, and a Bassett hound demonstration before the Jumper Classic.

St. Mary's County Crab Festival
Crabs, seafood and even some non-seafood items to munch on while listening to live music, viewing classic cars and browsing for arts and crafts.

The Alexandria Symphony Orchestra hosts an afternoon of music and art for Northern Virginia's children

The event begins at 2 p.m. with multiple activity stations, including an instrument petting zoo, arts & crafts stations, dance workshops and a wandering magician.

Sunset Parade
The Sunset Parade on Tuesday evenings features a colorful full-dress ceremony by the U.S. Marine Drum & Bugle Corps and precision drill by the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon.
